In 2019 Hydro Tasmania asked Spidertech to provide safe access down the inside of the penstocks feeding each of the turbines at Tarraleah Power Station. With almost 20 years experience in Hydro Power Generation infrastructure this was business as usual. In combination with our specialist access trolley, powered rope hoists and a skilled team of operatives, Spidertech were able to deliver the service on time and under budget.

With a descent of approximately 600 metres… it introduces a number of technical difficulties. Apart the inherent hazards associated with a confined space of this sort, the job required a lot of rope; over 2400 metres for this job! Ensuring adequate isolations, maintaining remote rescue retrieval options and continuous communications with the work party was all part of the design.
